The Position
Classes in this series serve as line department personnel function officers. Incumbents in this series plan, organize and administer a comprehensive personnel services program including employee relations, selection, classification coordination, position control, evaluation, training, payroll and other related areas. Personnel Officers supervise the work of other personnel staff.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position will be located at the NDOC Human Resources Northern Office, in Carson City, Nevada. The incumbent will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing and supervising the Northern Office Human Resources staff. Provides support to the Chief of Human Resources and Personnel Officer 2 on statewide comprehensive personnel and payroll programs and service deliverables: employee relations, recruitment and selection; coordination of classification and compensation actions; position control; work performance standards & evaluation; payroll, training and related ancillary programs. Investigate grievances and advise management on conflict resolution matters; provides consultation on a wide range of complex employee issues requiring an in-depth knowledge of personnel practices, procedures, laws and regulations. To QualifyIn order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
QualificationsEducation and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in personnel management, business administration, public administration or related area and three years of progressively responsible professional personnel management experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. The Examination If there are five or fewer qualified applicants, the exam will consist of an application evaluation.
