The Position
Classes in this series serve as line department personnel function officers. Incumbents in this series plan, organize and administer a comprehensive personnel services program including employee relations, selection, classification coordination, position control, evaluation, training, payroll and other related areas. Personnel Officers supervise the work of other personnel staff.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position is located within the Human Resources Division, Northern Office, in Carson City, Nevada. The incumbent provides HR consultation to the executive staff and other leadership, management, supervisory levels and employees; on matters related to personnel policies, procedures, administrative regulations and collective bargaining agreement provisions. Supervises the operations of human resources staff of analysts and technicians. Oversees technical and recruitment selection operations of human resources. Attends Personnel Commission Meetings and represents the Department at Employee-Management Committee hearings, as requested. Assists in the development of classification and compensation narrative justifications and forms. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in personnel management, business, public administration or related area and four years of progressively responsible professional personnel management experience, including one year of personnel program management experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
