State of North Carolina is Hiring an Administrative Specialist Near Wake, NC

This role of Branch Administrative Coordinator in the Forensic Tests for Alcohol Branch in North Carolina performs a variety of complex administrative tasks and is pivotal in providing comprehensive fiscal and human resources support to the Program Manager, Program Supervisors, and other branch staff. This role involves extensive interaction with staff, law enforcement, court personnel, and the public, requiring excellent communication skills, both written and oral. The primary responsibilities of this role include managing travel authorizations, coordinating events, facilitating training schedules, and preparing reports to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
 
Proficiency in operating office equipment, computer systems (including Microsoft Office Products) and experience in goal setting and achieving, organizing workflow, managing time effectively, and handling multiple projects simultaneously is essential. Additionally, the role requires the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute positively to the work environment.
 
The Branch Administrative Coordinator will report directly to the Branch Head and play a vital role in supporting the administrative functions of the Forensic Tests for Alcohol Branch, contributing significantly to its mission of reducing impaired driving incidents through efficient coordination, communication, and administrative support. This position description is broad, and the supervisor may delegate and assign other duties to position as needed.
 
This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workdays. The Division of Public Health trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.

  • Experience in equipment tracking and inventory management.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills, with a high level of proficiency in grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Experience successfully completed detailed tasks while using own judgement in determining direction.
Management Preferences:
  • Demonstrated experience accepting and learning changing technology.
  • Previous experience in personnel onboarding tasks and other related Human Resources administrative tasks within state government.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing workflow, coordinating activities, and multitasking effectively.
Physical Requirements:
  • Lift 25 pounds.
  • Load and unload passenger vehicle or cargo van.
  • Operate a computer keyboard.
