The North Carolina Department of Administration (NCDOA) is seeking applicants for a General Utility Worker in our department located in Raleigh, North Carolina. This division is responsible for the administration and enforcement of State Parking policies and procedures as related to the parking for State Government employees in the downtown government complex as well as downtown visitors parking in our visitor parking facilities.

- This position is responsible for the janitorial maintenance of parking lots and decks managed by State Parking in the downtown State Government complex.

Division/ Department Overview
The Department of Administration serves as the business manager for North Carolina state government and provides leadership to state government agencies for the effective, efficient, economical and equitable delivery of services to the public. The department also provides assistance and services to several advocacy programs that serve diverse segments of the state's population that have traditionally been underserved. The agency's mission directs departmental efforts to: acquire, develop and maintain properties and facilities; create and operate an efficient system to purchase and dispose of goods and services to meet the needs of government agencies; provide excellent operational services to state employees; achieve fair and equitable opportunities and representation for various segments of the population that have special needs; and to provide administrative support to independent state government agencies.  Â

- Knowledge of semi-skilled maintenance activities such as installing gate arms, asphalt/concrete patching, painting, and sign installation
- Proven ability to provide excellent customer service such as giving visitors directions, answering general parking questions, directing parkers to the proper place for assistance with vehicle breakdowns, lockouts etc.
- Demonstrated ability to operate motor vehicles, electric powered service vehicles, paint stripers, motorized sweepers and various hand tools for housekeeping and general maintenance.
MANAGEMENT PREFERENCE
- Employee should have the ability to learn new tasks and policies quickly and accurately.
- Employee should demonstrate flexibility and willingness to adapting to change.
- Employee should demonstrate possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Necessary Requirements- Valid NC Driver's License with acceptable driving record. Out of State Applicants must have a valid Driver's License or acquire a NC Driver's License within 60 days of hire. Candidate must present proof of a valid NC Driver's License and proof of an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to perform manual labor for up to 8 hours a day.
- Skill to install, replace, remove and maintain signage as specified by the Operations Manager.
- Ability to set up barricades, cones and related items to control traffic as specified by the Operations Manager.
- Ability to perform a variety of duties in the care and cleaning of parking lots and decks in an outside environment. Â Â
