The Health Care Technician I (HCT I) is primarily responsible for providing direct care and person centered supports to residents with complex physical, intellectual, medical, and behavioral needs. Direct Care staff focus on providing services to enhance the quality of life of their residents in a caring home environment with dignity and respect, offering choices and options to support individuality. In the NF units, duties include completing Nursing Assistant assignments while maintaining optimal gross/fine motor skills, ensuring activities of daily living (mealtime, dressing, bathing, grooming, etc.) while supporting the highest level of practicable independence, as well as ICF units are responsible for active treatment and training in areas of basic needs (bathing, toileting, dressing, self-feeding, personal grooming, dental hygiene, communication), medication administration, money management, home-living, vocational, and leisure/recreational skills. This position is responsible for ensuring all health and safety needs are met for assigned residents per regulatory guidelines. Staff is responsible for ensuring confidentiality and compliance with the Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA) in all aspects of communication. O'Berry NMT Center provides ongoing training and encourages professional development for our employees. Employees work a rotating or fixed shift, weekends and holidays including inclement weather due to the facility providing services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Shift Premiums:

7:00a - 7:30p - Sat & Sun - 5%

7:00p - 7:30a - Mon - Fri - 10%

7:00p - 7:30a - Sat & Sun - 15%

(36/48 hour work schedule with every other weekend)

* Must pass Physical Requirement Test

* CPR & CPI required upon employment

The O'Berry Neuro Medical Treatment Center in Goldsboro, North Carolina provides services through two distinct healthcare programs: Skilled nursing facility services (OBRA) and Developmental Disabilities (ICF-IID). Ninety-six beds are allocated to skilled nursing care for our medically-fragile individuals and the remaining beds at the facility are allocated to ICF level of care for our developmentally-disabled individuals who receive active treatment. In addition, O'Berry serves as the Eastern Regional Developmental Disability Respite Center. To receive credit for all of your work history and credentials, you must list the information on the application form. * Must be certified as a Nursing Assistant and listed in good standings with the NC Health Care Registry.

* Required to read and write in English plus possess the ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus

Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:

A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).

An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:

(1) the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);

(2) the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;

(3) or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
