About Us:

The Board regulates over 300,000 licenses and certificates. The Board licenses and regulates registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs), Dialysis Technicians (DTs), Community Health Workers (CHWs) and Medication Aides. The Board's top priorities are to efficiently license the nursing workforce and remove dangerous practitioners from practice in a timely manner to protect Ohio patients. Public protection is critical, as nursing touches virtually every citizen of Ohio.

What You'll Do:

These are part-time, intermittent positions that are expected to work at least 24 hours per week. These positions will work under direction/supervision of the Licensure Supervisor and will perform the following job duties:

  • Enters relevant information into the data management system (eLicensing)
  • Issues licenses and/or certificates
  • Explains programs to licensees/certificate holders and the public
  • Obtain and process information for licensure and/or certification renewal
  • Handles routine correspondence from licensees/certificate holders
  • Updates data management system, (eLicensing), to generate licenses/certificates
  • Provides information and assistance to general public and licensees to aid in processing license applications
  • Prepares correspondence for distribution to licensees
  • Compiles rosters, pass/fail lists or appropriate licenses for distribution to licensees
  • Reviews applications for follow-up and/or investigation and makes recommendations to enforcement staff
  • Answers telephone inquiries concerning certification/licensure and testing process, laws and regulations
  • Gathers and analyzes data and compiles reports
  • Reviews and research relevant databases outside of eLicense for all license and certification information
  • Performs a variety of duties relating to prospective and/or current licensees or certificate holders
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications
12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in reviewing applicants' eligibility to take examinations, test administration & scoring & compiling statistics concerning test results; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in typing, word processing or data entry using video display terminal.
  • Or 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in clerical/secretarial or other administrative support position involving public contact & preparation of correspondence & reports; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in typing, word processing or data entry using video display terminal.
  • Or 12 mos. exp. as Certification/ Licensure Examiner 1, 16841.
  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
Job Skills: Clerical & Data Entry

Knowledge of applicable regulations/laws governing certification/licensure*; office practices & procedures; public relations; procedures governing test administration & scoring*. Skill in typing, word processing or operation of video display terminal. Ability to review applications for completeness, verify eligibility & compile all related information necessary for another to approve issuance of certificate/license; compose basic correspondence & compile reports; handle routine & sensitive inquiries from applicants & general public. (*)Developed after employment.
