BWC is currently operating under a hybrid schedule that may incorporate both teleworking and in-person office hours. Employees must be able to report to the office when requested by management &/or for their initial job training.

What You'll Be Doing:

* Working primarily in the field, serves as primary investigator on fatality and other complex enforcement inspections. Administrative duties are primarily done at home office.

* Independently performing complex and comprehensive industrial hygiene and occupational safety inspections and investigations;

* Providing Ohio public employers and employees with occupational health and safety compliance assistance;

* Identifying existing or potential safety and health hazards and/or facilitates compliance with adopted Ohio Employment Risk Reduction Standards; in Ohio Revised Code & Ohio Administrative Code chapter 4167.

* This position provides service to 88 counties as part of a team of compliance officers within the State of Ohio.

To Qualify, You Must Clearly Demonstrate:

Completion of undergraduate core program in environmental health, physical/natural science or engineering; 12 mos. exp. in private sector or other governmental agency performing same or comparable duties of Industrial Safety Hygienist 3, 24473; valid driver's license.

Or 12 mos. exp. as Industrial Safety Hygienist 3, 24473; valid driver's license.

Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

Position Specific Minimum Qualifications:

* 12 months experience citing, interpreting, & applying Federal OSHA regulations & standards

* 12 months experience conducting air, noise, & chemical monitoring & sampling using related industrial hygiene equipment (e.g., dosimeters, sound-level meter, air sampling pumps, velometer, electrical circuit test equipment, direct reading air monitoring devices, & other equipment)

Classification may require use of proficiency demonstration to determine minimum class qualifications for employment.

Unusual Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to travel (as much as 40 - 60%) & overnight travel may be required. Therefore, persons occupying this position must be able to provide own transportation &/or legally operate a state-owned vehicle.
