Responsible for organizing various activities assigned to the Community Engagement Team. Oversees activities relative to telephone communications, meetings, appointments, management of personnel reporting to the Community Engagement Director. Maintains a professional office environment. Communicates efficiently and effectively with multiple individuals associated with the team.
Provides assistance to the Community Engagement Team in preparing for internal and external meetings and outreach activities. Oversees activities relative to the planning and preparation of meetings, conferences, and trainings. Prepares or coordinates travel and other necessary reservations and ensures that various parties are appropriately informed.
Assists in the development of various reports for the Community Engagement Team. Performs research and compiles necessary presentation information in consultation with the team members.
Prepares routine and confidential correspondence, detailed reports, and other administrative support duties; prepares meeting minutes from various meetings, ensuring proper filing and distribution.
Schedules and monitors calendars for the Community Engagement Director and Community Engagement Team staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma. Related clerical experience may be substituted for a high school diploma.
Agency Additional Requirements: High school diploma and medical office/clinical experience which includes public contact. An associate's degree or higher may be substituted for experience.
Must be able to respond timely and appropriately to frequently changing conditions and to make recommendations concerning procedural improvement to office/maintenance operations.
Must be able to drive to outlying counties and to non-traditional settings.
May be required to travel overnight.
Employees are required to participate in disaster preparedness during hazardous weather or other public health emergency, which involves being subject to duty and or available during an emergency response via communications device on a 24-hour basis; and participates in/responds to Public Health Outbreaks and other priority response efforts.
DHEC employees are required to participate in disaster preparedness during hazardous weather or declaration of an emergency. This involves being subject to duty and or call on a 24-hour basis.
You must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a reliable transportation.
This position may require working early (before 8:30 am), evening (after 5:00 pm) and/or Saturday's.
Ability to lift 30 pounds and stand for long periods of time, if required.
IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS : All new employees who are healthcare providers with job-specific exposure risk are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, varicella, and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.

This position is part of the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control's (Public Health). The work performed supports DHEC's mission to improve the quality of life for all South Carolinians by protecting and promoting the health of the public and the environment. Effective July 1, 2024, this position will transfer to the South Carolina Department of Public Health created by Senate Bill 399 which provides for the creation of the Department of Public Health to assume the public health-related functions of DHEC.
