Job Responsibilities
Administers database management systems for statewide client server information system. Advises the director of Information systems on defining goals and objectives for the information system. Develops and maintains data standards, documentation, and security and authorization procedures. Acts as Database Administrator and Manager. Maintains data dictionaries, error and coding tables, to ensure consistent definitions and data integrity. Designs, maintains physical data model for optimum use of resources. Uses SQL scripts to backup databases as needed, check for data consistency and to ensure optimum record retrieval by maintaining indexes as efficiently as possible. Trains and assists applications development staff in instituting database stored procedures. Audits client server requests to aid in tuning both the database and the application for maximum performance. Installs and maintains database management system software, prepares for and implements updates as well as test and implement new software to aid in the operation, performance and debugging of the database system. Develops and maintains plan to implement use of emergency server, including transfer of data to and from tape backups. Implements and prepares for current upgrades to software and to ensure proper tuning of the system for maximum performance and to provide maximum on-line availability of the databases.
Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or a related field and experience in systems development and maintenance, technical support, or the support of complex database management systems. Related experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications

ABachelor's degree and experience working with Microsoft SQL Server. Experience interfacing MS SQL databases with .NET applications, Power BI and other Business Intelligence tools.
