State of South Carolina is Hiring a Lead Inspector (Investigations and Enforcement) Internal Only Near Lexington, SC

Job ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities
  • You will lead and manage a team of inspectors who are responsible for conducting inspections to ensure compliance with statutes and regulations for programs and boards for which the Agency has statutory inspection authority.
  • You will monitor the status and quality of inspections completed and assign inspections to inspectors, considering caseloads and efficiencies.
  • You will conduct routine and opening inspections of offices, facilities, and/or locations of licensees to ensure compliance with applicable statutes and regulations.
  • You will prepare documentation related to inspections and ensure information, documents and reports are properly uploaded into the Agency’s system.
  • You will perform other duties such as preparing and submitting reports, attending meetings, and testifying at hearings, as required.
Minimum And Additional RequirementsMinimum Qualifications
  • A high school diploma and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. (A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required work experience).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior regulatory or experience performing inspections.
  • Strong leadership and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt style to explain complex issues succinctly and with clarity both orally and in writing.
  • Substantial knowledge of investigative techniques, principles and practices.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships.
Other Requirements
  • Position works in both an office and field environment.
  • Frequent statewide travel and occasional overnight travel.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and 10-year MVR that complies with State and Agency Fleet guidelines.
  • Must be able to drive a state or personal vehicle to complete assigned job duties.
  • May need to bend, stoop, kneel and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • May require extended periods of driving and sitting and may require visiting private facilities that are non- ADA compliant.
  • Occasional work outside of normal Agency business hours.
