Job Responsibilities This is an Internal Posting, only current SCDC employees will be considered. - Reports directly to the chief of special investigations in the office of inspector general's office.
- Serves as the assistant chief of the major crimes & public corruption unit.
- Reviews all investigative reports upon submission & ensures that reports are completed timely and proper technique followed.
- Supervises day-to-day activities of staff assigned to the major crimes and public corruption unit.
- Performs other investigative & administrative duties as assigned by chief of special investigations.
- Supports the chief of special investigations with incident command system procedures and liaisons with other units in the event of an incident.
- Assists in monitoring inmate telephone systems in the agency.
- Assists with training programs, interview boards and committees.
- Performs duties as commissioned law enforcement officer.
- Serves on a rotational on-call schedule.

(803) 896-1649 Minimum and Additional Requirements State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree and experience supervising law enforcement personnel at a public law enforcement agency.
SCDC Minimum Requirement: (Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).
- A bachelor's degree and four (4) years law enforcement/investigative/correctional experience;
OR - An associate degree and six (6) years law enforcement/investigative/correctional experience;
OR - A high school diploma and eight (8) years law enforcement/investigative/correctional experience.
Must have 2 years supervisory or equivalent experience such as field training officer, team leader, or project manager as determined by the inspector general. Must be current SCCJA class 1 certified.
