The Utah Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a highly motivated, qualified individual to work as a Night Shift Charge Registered Nurse in the Correctional Health Services Division. If you would like an opportunity to join a team of passionate individuals who work hard in providing quality medical care, this is the job for you.Registered Nurses in this senior level job perform advanced and/or supervisory tasks for health programs or nursing assignments in a variety of settings with a variety of patient groups, care providers and/or facilities. Exercise full professional discretion and technical judgment based on licensure in general duty settings, clinical nursing settings and/or in public health programs.

  • Develops or modifies rules, policies, or standards, etc.
  • Provides the supervision of Registered Nurses and Emergency Medical Technicians.
  • Coordinates and delegates clinical care throughout the prison.
  • Provides professional nursing consultation and services in specialized areas of knowledge.
  • Performs physical examinations and/or preventive health measures to assess and evaluate patient's clinical problems and health care needs.
  • Provides direct and/or indirect patient care oriented toward improving or maintaining health and preventing illness.
  • Provides clients with information concerning rights, options, benefits, services, goals and expectations.
  • Coordinates clinical activities and follow-up.
  • Assesses situation and applies appropriate interventions to prevent or resolve crisis situations.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines, etc.
  • Adapts program(s) to meet specific needs or concerns.
  • Maintains and updates patient charts, records, and information.

  • Licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in the state of Utah.
  • Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals, etc.
  • Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
