State of Vermont is Hiring a Civil Engineer I - Traffic Design Unit Near Barre, VT

OverviewThe Agency of Transportation (AOT) has an exciting opportunity for a civil engineer interested in design. The Traffic Design Unit develops plans, specifications and cost estimates for transportation projects that improve the safety and capacity of our roadway network. You will be collaborating with Agency subject matter experts to advance projects at varying stages, from scoping all the way through to construction. Typical projects include traffic signals, roundabouts, intersection realignment and road widening.
The ideal candidate will have an interest in public service, the ability to work on multiple projects at a given time and strong communication skills. The work can be challenging and yet very rewarding with plenty of opportunity for professional growth and career advancement.
The official work station for this position is Barre, Vermont. There is potential for telework, though it is not a fully remote position. Some field work and work from the Barre office will be required.

Environmental FactorsDuties are generally performed in both office and field settings for which private means of transportation must be available. Fieldwork may involve exposure to hazardous materials, traffic hazards, and construction sites during all weather conditions and may involve traversing rough terrain and bodies of water. Some work outside of regular working hours, including attendance at public meetings, may be required. Strong differences of opinion may be encountered on a regular basis.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, architectural engineering, or related technical field.
OR
Associates degree in civil engineering, construction management, architectural engineering, or related technical field AND two (2) years of experience in engineering OR licensure as an Engineer Intern.
OR
College senior in the final year of a bachelor's degree program in civil engineering, construction management, architectural engineering, or related technical field.
Special RequirementsCandidate in final year of bachelor's degree must successfully graduate prior to start date.
