The Opportunity
WSDOT is currently seeking a motivated individual to take on fiscal and administrative tasks at the Maintenance Office located in Davenport, WA. In this role, you will work as part of a team to provide daily assistance to the public and staff members at the site while answering and directing telephone calls and performing daily office duties. The Fiscal Technician will be responsible for accounting, payroll, and inventory for the Area Maintenance office as well as provide assistance to the Maintenance and Operations Superintendent and Fiscal Specialist Supervisor with administrative support. You will certainly thrive in this position if you have experience in customer service, knowledge of purchasing and payment reconciliation, and possess strong attention to detail.
What to Expect
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Fiscal Technician 2 will:

  • Serve as the principal timekeeper for Maintenance and Operations personnel.
  • Process bi-monthly fiscal reports, leave balances, and employee schedule changes.
  • Process daily labor for Maintenance employees and track leave usage and overtime.
  • Receive and verify vendor invoices for accurate in coding as per Chart of Accounts, Purchase Contracts and Service Agreements.
  • Coordinate seven rest area coffee stops and rest area activity permits and manage the Adopt a Highway Program.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Administrative office support.
  • Review and issue oversize/overweight permits as necessary.
Qualifications
To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
  • A High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of experience in office procedures.
  • Skills to be proficient in the use of office machines, i.e. computers, fax, scanner, phones, copiers and printers.
  • Proficiency with and ability to use Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.
  • Ability to interact with the public in a one-on-one basis.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing with the ability to communicate with various staff by phone, email, or other written correspondence in a clear and concise manner.

  • The salary range listed includes the legislative approved general wage increase of 3%, effective on July 1, 2024.
  • In addition to base salary, employees may be entitled to other forms of compensation depending on the type, duties, or location of the position.
