Please note: The starting salary offer will be determined based on the successful candidate's qualifications within the budgeted salary range of $110,000 - $135,000 annually. However, there is ability for longevity growth and progression in salary for the individual once employed.
This position is eligible to frequently telework the majority of the time and is typically not required to report on-site. If required on-site, then your supervisor will do their best to make every effort to notify you at least 1 week in advance, with the exception of emergency/urgent situations. The default assigned work location of all One Washington project positions – both on-site and telework eligible positions – is within the State of Washington, *specifically at one of our two duty stations based in Olympia.
What this job is about:
As the Financial Accounting Transformations Supervisor, you’ll support the ongoing use and development of the state’s new mission critical enterprise financial and procurement system. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to transform business operations by analyzing processes, determining our business needs, and providing strategic direction. Your leadership and oversight are needed as we design and execute the replacement of the state’s financial software solution, while ensuring we are meeting performance goals that align with our project and organizations priorities.

Gov. Jay Inslee has tasked this group with one of the largest and most transformative information technology projects in Washington state history. The One Washington Team’s main objective is to modernize and enhance outdated technology systems that state agencies have used for decades without much improvement — such as the state’s core finance, procurement, budget, and human capital management functions. This project will help bring Washington into the present and prepared for the future with live and on-demand data.

OneWA is a long-term yet extremely fast-paced project anticipated to fully implement all phases by 2030. Duties

What you’ll do:

  • Set specific, measurable, and realistic performance goals that align with broader project and organizational priorities; identify measures for evaluating goal achievement.
  • Manage daily operations and provide detailed teamwork plan; assign work, clarify expectations and hold SME accountable for priorities and tasks required to accomplish project goals and maintain established ERP implementation timelines.
  • Provide exceptional knowledge of Financial Accounting business processes/business process mapping in order to accomplish challenging goals and solve difficult work problems; leverage personal technical expertise to assist with new ERP opportunities/issues.
  • Actively participate in design sessions to develop and configure the software solution around the needs of statewide accounting and the agency finance community.
  • Lead, facilitate and document a shared understanding of the business problem for financial accounting processes, provide possible solutions, and determine the scope of the project for Enterprise systems used statewide.
  • Work with statewide agency customers to understand agency business needs and document requirements of the project.
  • Assist with technical specifications; work with technical team to translate business needs into technical specifications including user stories and test scenarios.
  • Provide effective/efficient risk management analysis and escalation of risks as appropriate to other areas of the Project Management Team and key stakeholders, develop necessary contingency plans to mitigate risk.
  • Communicate training needs with the ERP Training Team; provide input on training plans and materials; participate in train-the-trainers.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Three years of government experience in budgeting, accounting, auditing, or financial reporting, with a concentration in the general ledger arena.
  • One year of experience documenting business process and business process mapping, leading group facilitation, risk management, data gathering and analysis.
  • One year of lead or supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a closely related field. Please note: additional two years of relevant professional experience may substitute for the educational requirement.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of tools, including: Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Master's degree with at least 24 semester/36 quarter hours of accounting course work or certification as a public accountant.
  • Five years of professional experience in finance arena, specifically general ledger experience.
  • Familiar with Washington state laws, regulations, and administrative/accounting and policies and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with an ERP implementation project, and all phases (requirements gathering, design, development, deployment, training, and measuring effectiveness)
  • Knowledge of Smartsheets.
