DSHS BHA Security Guard 3 The Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) is seeking a night shift Security Guard Supervisor to work at the DSHS Behavioral Health and Treatment Center at the Maple Lane Campus located in Grand Mound, Washington just north of Centralia. In this role, you will provide supervision to security officers who provide protection and security to residents, staff and the facility.We are seeking people who can quickly adapt to their environment, who have the skills to proactively manage safety & security situations, and who can be an effective member of our team. A primary focus of this job is on verbal de-escalation and ensuring the direct reports under this position are up to date on all required training and are practicing the de-escalation skills. The hours for this night shift position will be: 10:00pm - 6:30am, with Friday and Saturday off.Evening and Night shifts include a shift differential in addition to the standard compensation rate. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary. Some of what you'll doPatrol campus in a vehicle and on foot, provide protection for campus staff, patients, visitors, and property.Provide a security presence, walk-throughs, and safety checks of the units. Supervise and assist security staffPlan, coordinate, direct, and control security activities, responses, and actionsCommunicate with executive management, supervisors, security, and other campus staff through memo reports, surveys, and evaluationsRespond to life and death emergencies and assist law enforcement, fire, and/or other agenciesConfiscate, secure and preserve contraband and evidenceEnsure accountability of equipment, keys, I.D. badges, and other sensitive itemsAssist in providing on-the-job training and orientation for newly hired Security staffPlan and provide specific shift work schedulesProvide counseling to subordinates to resolve disputes, discrepancies, and conflictsConduct monthly check-ins with subordinates and complete monthly reports or other assigned administrative duties as neededCommunicate consistently with the Security Operations Manager regarding all mattersEnsure the shift has proper staffing levels, responds to emergent codes, and acts as the representative for the security departmentWho should applyProfessionals with a high school diploma or GED and 3 years of experience in areas of work such as security guard, correctional officer, store investigator, police officer, police reserve officer, military police, or other law enforcement work. (A certificate of completion in a basic law enforcement training program approved by the Washington Criminal Justice Training Commission, or a certificate of completion in a police or reserve police academy or military training program will substitute for one of the three years of the above experience) Or Three years of experience as a Security Guard 1 Or Two years of experience as a Security Guard 2 Interested?
