DSHS FFA Maintenance Mechanic 4 (Fire Alarm Technician & Life Safety Supervisor)

 We're looking to hire a Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor in the Facilities, Finance, and Analytics Administration (FFA) at Western State Hospital in Lakewood, WA who is skilled in general maintenance in fields including construction, maintenance, repair, modification of buildings, facilities, mechanical equipment and machinery. Fire alarm, fire suppression, plumbing, electrical, welding, carpentry, and machinery.
 
 This is a supervisory role.
 
 Based out of our Life Safety shop, you'll perform a variety of skilled work in the operation, maintenance, repair, remodeling, and construction of buildings, machinery, mechanical facilities and equipment, and hospital facilities, systems, and equipment.
 
 Some of what you'll do
  • Supervises journey-level trades workers, and others engaged in maintenance, repair, and modifications to buildings, facilities, equipment, machinery, special apparatus, and utilities, including laundry, kitchen, hospital, air-conditioning, and construction equipment 
  • Supervise technicians in the testing and maintenance of fire alarm and fire suppression systems on campus.
  • Reads plans and blueprints, inspects projects to ensure compliance with local codes, determines the scope of work, materials needed, estimated cost and availability
  • Orders materials and maintains an adequate inventory of required materials to carry on shop or maintenance work
  • Assigns opens and closes AMMS work orders in a timely manner
  • Maintains and assures all PMs are completed on time and within compliance
  • Develops and conducts a preventive maintenance program for assigned machinery, equipment, and building components
  • Enforces safety rules and regulations; maintains records on work performed; writes reports as required
  • Interprets building, NFPA, TJC, CMS codes and requirements and maintains documents related to these requirements
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Who should apply?
 Professionals who:
 
  • Have completed a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanic trade and,
  • Two years of full-time experience as a journey-level worker in building and equipment maintenance, construction, or repair work
  • Valid Nicet level 2 certification in Fire Alarm testing and maintenance.
