Monongalia County Health Department is currently accepting resumes for a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical and administrative skills, demonstrating a commitment to patient care and efficient practice operations. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring a positive patient experience and supporting our healthcare professionals in providing high-quality medical services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Duties: Prepare patients for examinations, taking medical histories, and recording vital signs. Assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures. Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, perform basic laboratory tests, and dispose of contaminated supplies. Administer medications and injections as directed by physicians. Perform phlebotomy and other diagnostic procedures. Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for patients.
Administrative Duties: Schedule patient appointments and manage patient flow. Answer phones, respond to patient inquiries, and provide information as needed. Maintain and update patient records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy. Assist with billing, coding, and processing insurance claims. Manage inventory of medical supplies and order as necessary. Perform general office duties, such as filing, faxing, and photocopying.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA) is highly desirable.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical office software.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a healthcare team.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical procedures.
- Fluent in Spanish is preferred but not required.
This position will be Monday through Thursday 8am - 5pm and Fridays 8am - 12pm
Salary based on experience, annual and sick leave, paid holidays, with full benefits.
