The Wisconsin Veterans Home at King (WVHK) is currently recruiting for two (2) part-time certified Nursing Assistant 2 – Weekend (CNA 2 – Weekend) positions, to serve as members of the Nursing team. The Home is a 24/7/365 long-term care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support, and professional healthcare services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. Our facility is on the picturesque shoreline of the Chain O'Lakes, off Highway 10, between Stevens Point and Appleton.
Sign-On Bonus of $2000 for eligible employees who agree to remain in the position for one year. The first $1000 will be paid in the employee's first paycheck and the second $1000 will be paid when the employee attains permanent status.

We are currently looking to fill two part-time 60% Nursing Assistant 2 – Weekend positions. One on our PM shift (1:45pm-10:15pm) and one on our NOC shift (10:00pm - 6:00am). These positions may volunteer for additional hours based on operational needs.
Weekend position consists of a predetermined combination of shifts (pattern) on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and/or Monday between the hours of 6:00 a.m. Friday through 11:30pm Monday. (e.g., Week 1: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Week 2: Saturday and Sunday; or Friday, Saturday, Sunday every weekend; etc.)

Nursing Assistant 2 employees at our facility perform objective-level work, providing direct and indirect nursing care, for geriatric, disabled and/or cognitively impaired clients at the Veterans Home. This care is designed to meet the therapeutic, preventative, restorative, spiritual, psychosocial, cognitive, and rehabilitative needs of WVHK members. This position works as an integral part of the health care team under the limited supervision of a Nursing Supervisor and under the direction of licensed nursing staff.

Salary Information
Starting pay of $24.56 per hour. Additional compensation for nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime. Pay upon appointment for current or eligible former State employees will be in accordance with the Wisconsin Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code. Future increases will be in accordance with the Wisconsin Compensation Plan.
Add-on Pay: Employees in this program will receive an add-on of $5.00 per hour for all hours worked during qualifying periods, determined by the employing unit, between the hours of 6:00 a.m. Friday through 11:30 p.m. Monday.

  • Weekend Nursing Assistant positions are not eligible for personal holidays or paid legal holidays. Weekend Nursing Assistants will receive pay at a rate of time and one-half for work performed on a legal holiday.
Sign-on bonus of $2000 for eligible hires. The first $1000 will be paid in the employee's first paycheck and the second $1000 will be paid when the employee attains permanent status. Current State employees are not eligible for a sign-on bonus.
This position is in pay schedule-range 06-11.
This position is not represented by a bargaining unit.
Job Details
Job duties require the ability to assist in patient mobility efforts, stand and/or walk up to 75% of eight-hour day to provide assessments, kneel, stoop, make visual observations, lift, push, pull, carry, reach, maintain hygiene, use special safety equipment, and wear protective clothing.
Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.
Employees at this healthcare facility are required to report their COVID-19 vaccination status, whether vaccinated or not, and provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information by their third day of employment.
Due to the nature of the positions, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to any offer of employment.
A 12-month probationary period may be required.
QualificationsThese positions require certification or eligibility for certification as a Wisconsin Nurse Aide and eligibility to work in a federally certified nursing home as a CNA.
In Addition To The CNA Requirement, Minimally Qualified Applicants Must Be 18 Years Of Age On Or Before The Effective Date Of The Appointment And Have The Following
  • Ability to work weekends; and
  • Experience providing basic patient care; and
  • Experience with professional communication; and
  • Experience with Medical Recordkeeping
Well-qualified Applicants Will Also Have Experience
  • Maintaining equipment and inventory; and/or
  • Using computer programs; and
  • Performing safety and security duties; and/or
  • Providing Advanced Nursing Care; and/or
  • Working as a CNA in a relevant setting (i.e., health care, geriatrics, 24/7 facility)
