State of Wisconsin is Hiring a LTE Wildlife Technician Advanced (Shiocton) Near Shiocton, WI

Introduction
We are dedicated to working with Wisconsinites while preserving and enhancing the natural resources of Wisconsin. In partnership with individuals and organizations; DNR staff manage fish, wildlife, forests, parks, air and water resources while promoting a healthy, sustainable environment and a full range of outdoor opportunities.
The Wisconsin DNR is hiring an LTE (Limited Term Employee) – Wildlife Technician Advanced, in Shiocton, WI.
This recruitment may be used to fill future similar vacancies.
Position Summary
This position is responsible for a broad range of technical paraprofessional support for the wildlife management program. Work duties include leading implementation of priority habitat management activities, implementing biological surveys, maintaining internal databases, and providing timely customer service.
40% Lead implementation of priority habitat management activities. Includes, but is not limited to: leading field crews, operation of equipment, managing water control structures and supporting infrastructure, application of herbicide, and participation in prescribed fire operations.
20% Implement biological surveys and waterfowl or dove banding operations. May include, but is not limited to: waterfowl, otter, large carnivore, upland bird brood, summer deer, woodcock, ruffed grouse, and crane survey data collection and entry.
20% Maintain internal databases associated with land and wildlife management activities. Including, but not limited to: reconnaissance updates, documentation for completed treatments, and other data entry for infrastructure and resource management
10% Provide timely customer service. Includes, but is not limited to: responding to nuisance and injured animal concerns, providing general information about recreational opportunities, and directing customers to program specialists as appropriate.
10% Other paraprofessional or technical duties that support the Wildlife Management program, as assigned.
Salary Information
This position pays between $16.25 - $16.75 per hour and is in pay schedule and range 06-14. Compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.
Job Details
This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and will not automatically lead to permanent state employment or be entitled to the same benefits as permanent employees.

  • Residency: To be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin.

  • Has resided in this state for not less than a total of one year out of the immediately preceding 5 years;
  • Is eligible to register to vote in this state; or
  • Is the spouse of a person meeting the requirements of par. (a), (b), or (c).” s.230.03(12), Wis. Stats.

QualificationsIn addition to the required qualifications below, the selected candidate must be eligible to drive a state vehicle and meet the following criteria:
  • Have a valid driver’s license
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have a minimum of two years of licensed driving experience
  • Have not had three (3) or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in the past two (2) years
  • Have no OWI/DUI violations within the past year
Required Qualifications
  • Ability to work irregular shifts including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge or experience in wildlife management or a related field.
  • Experience with equipment and facility maintenance.
  • Experience operating equipment relevant to the position's duties (ex. agricultural tractor, chainsaw, ATV)
