Job Summary:

• The primary responsibility of the Senior Systems Engineer is to protect critical systems and data through monitoring, security update deployment, vulnerability remediation, and proactive maintenance.
• Additional duties include the administration and support of the Windows and VMware environment, including requirements analysis, server deployment, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• The Senior Systems Engineer maintains and supports enterprise and departmental application, database, file, and web servers; follows vendor documentation to install and configure servers. Works with Application Coordinators to set up appropriate access and rights to servers. The incumbent will coordinate operating system patching with application owners and vendors.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer-related area and a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience in a large heterogeneous virtual server environment -or- an Associates degree in computer-related area and six (6) years of relevant experience required.
• Demonstrated analytic and troubleshooting skills, and familiarity with data networking concepts and associated technologies like DNS required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• The preferred candidate will have experience in a large healthcare environment.
• They will have experience with virtualization platforms and/or cloud technologies, Active Directory, and shell scripting (bash, Powershell, etc.).
• The preferred candidate will have experience with patch management solutions.
