There are no education or experience requirements. Applicants must be physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor. When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated. Applicants must also be able to communicate effectively with other staff and with park patrons.
Duties Description Under the supervision of the Park Manager or their designee, the incumbents will perform or assist with routine cleaning and housekeeping work which will include, but is not limited to:
•Clean facility buildings, cabins, cottages, and other facilities and structures as assigned;
•Sweeping/vacuuming/mopping floors, window washing, trash and recycling removal, and dusting;
•Interact with the public in a professional and courteous manner;
•Assist in the training of seasonal staff with respect to departmental tasks;
•May be required to assist other operational departments as assigned, which may include, but not be limited to: toll booth assignments, basic maintenance work (such as painting projects), or assisting with groundskeeping duties.
•May assist the cleaning supervisor in preparing daily occupancy reports using Aspira One software.
•May handle complaints or inquiries from park patrons.
•May supervise a small crew of seasonal staff as needed.
Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
•Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
•Must be available to work a variable schedule that will include seasonal pass day changes, holidays and/or weekends.
•Must be reliable, flexible, and willing to work in a team setting.
•Must be able to communicate effectively with other staff and park patrons in a responsible and courteous manner under stressful conditions.
The CSEA contracts allow for salary protection for seasonal / hourly employees who are appointed to permanent graded positions with lower hiring rates under certain circumstances. We encourage OPRHP seasonal / hourly applicants to check in with your Regional Business Office Administrator to inquire about the potential impact on your salary. Do not assume that you will lose salary! Also, it should be noted that you will be eligible for regular salary / performance advances (i.e. salary increases) as a permanent graded employee which seasonal / hourly employees are not eligible to receive.
