Status: Home is Hiring a Director of Development Near Atlanta, GA

Status: Home is Atlanta’s oldest and largest provider of permanent supportive housing for individuals and families impacted by HIV/AIDS. We are searching for a Director of Development.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Director of Development works within the development team and reports to the VP of Development and Marketing and assists in overseeing the roles of the institutional giving manager, volunteer manager, and communications manager. The Director of Development must have the ability to think strategically and act tactically to develop, analyze, manage, and execute all fundraising activities of Status: Home and to work with team members as well as staff across all departments. This role will focus on the day-to-day annual campaign activities with a strong focus on leading the initiatives for individuals, corporate partners, and events.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Manages the day-to-day of annual campaign

· With assistance from the VP of Development and the CEO, develops an annual work plan that is s inclusive of developing annual and long-range goals for Individuals, corporations, community groups and foundations based on Status: Home mission and goals.

· Assesses individual donor base and refines and implements annual fundraising plans that include donor engagement, retention, acquisition, and lapsed strategies.

· Works to develop/strengthen relationships with our base of <$5000 donors and help move them up to larger gifts, ensuring steady annual growth.

· Creates and facilitates a strategy for donors >$5000 for the VP of development to cultivate and steward those relationships.

· Provides exceptional stewardship of the Philanthropy Circle through the creation and execution of multi-tiered donor communications and events and future strategy to continuously strengthen relationships and increase revenue.

· Plans and executes all aspects of bi-annual individual giving campaigns.

· Assists the VP of Development in providing recognition to individual donors including acknowledgment letters, events, tours, plaques, personal attention, and social media.

· Prepares and coordinates presentations with individuals; coordinates tours with program staff and participates in visits as needed.

· In collaboration with the Institutional Giving Manager, directs efforts to raise charitable contributions through in-kind donations, annual partnership programs, grants and sponsorships from community groups and corporate partnerships.

· Works with other staff in reporting from and maintaining information in the donor database.

· Works with members of the board of directors, development committee, the Vice President of Development, and the CEO to develop support from corporations and community groups.

· Conducts research to provide background information and appropriate contact for prospects for each area. 

· Leads the identification, cultivation and solicitation of corporations.

a. Corporate strategies include creating innovative corporate partnerships.

b. Conducta consistent community outreach with ERG’s, lapsed corporate partners, or new volunteer groups.

c. In partnership with VP of Development, serves as “account manager” for key corporate and foundation relationships, to ensure benefit fulfillment and stewardship of donations.

d. Leads P2P fundraising efforts for corporate and community partners.

B. Manages and serves as the project manager for events

· Serves as the point of contact for vendors/consultants and ensuring timely follow up on deliverables.

· Supporta the design, organization and management of event details, including sponsorship, ticket sales, and program design, to generate funds.

C. Performs Public Relations/Marketing/Communications

· In cooperation with the VP of Development and the Communications Manager, oversees campaign material creation and message development for all external communications

· Establishes and maintains relationships with media outlets.

· Assists the VP of Development with agency communications (printed, electronic, or other) including editing, writing, photo coordination, and overall logistics.

· Works alongside the volunteer manager in the solicitation of charitable gifts from volunteers as needed. · · Provides guidance and support, required materials, and supplies for staff and volunteers.

· Assists the VP of Development in coordinating and overseeing the production of communications and fundraising literature, press releases, articles, brochures, etc. as needed.

D. Research

  • Researches potential new corporate/community funding sources and implement plan to approach new prospects
  • Conducts research to provide background information on prospective individual donors to identify the best approach and individuals to contact them. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

· Ability to pass criminal background check

· Bachelor’s degree

· 2-3 years of experience

· Ability to work evenings and weekends

Certified knowledge of:

· HIV/AIDS and related issues as they correlate to a volunteer program

· General knowledge of the purpose, organization, and goals of volunteer services

· Methods and practices used to recruit, interview, evaluate, and place volunteers

· Methods of effective utilization of volunteer resources

· Laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines governing the use of volunteers in a human service delivery setting

· Community organizations and their functions

Demonstrated ability to:

· Clearly communicate agency policies and procedures, orally and in writing

· Stimulate the interest and enlist the cooperation of others

· Enable critical thinking skills

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and tactfully:

· With all levels of volunteers and staff

· With residents, their families, and representatives

· With Donors/Partners

· With the general public

· With adults and children
