Stavros Center for Independent Living, Inc. is seeking to fill a full time Options Counselor position to help continue to fulfill the Stavros Mission:
Our mission at Stavros is to help persons with disabilities and Deaf people develop the tools and skills they need to take charge of their own lives. We accomplish this through programs and services designed to meet the needs of persons of any age or disability as they work to achieve the life goals that are important to them.
The Options Counselor will provide information and counseling to qualified individuals seeking resources and services related to ageing and/or disability. The Options Counselor will need to understand the breadth of Stavros Services and the services offered by our collaborating agencies including but not limited to the Ageing and Disability Resource Consortium (ADRC).

Requirements
Responsibilities:
· Provide choices of community services, rights and responsibilities
· To assist consumer in exploring options suitable for them that will provide maximum independence.
· To become informed as to services available related to living as independently as possible.
· Work with Information and Referral Specialists and staff to understand Stavros services and outside services
· To conduct surveys to determine outcome of information given
· To meet face to face and by phone to explain options to consumers.
Qualifications:
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Ability to multi-task and be a self-starter
· Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently over the phone and/or in person
· Must be knowledgeable and/or willing to learn about Stavros services and other complimentary services that exist locally, regionally, and/or statewide.
· Must excel at the following skills: data entry, customer service, verbal/communication, and research skills.
· Must respond to requests in a timely manner to people with disabilities, families or community agencies.
This individual must work cooperatively with others and be committed to the ideas of independent living and equal rights for all people
