The company was founded on pioneering work carried out in the laboratories of Dr. Carl June and Dr. Andy Minn (University of Pennsylvania), Dr. Kole Roybal (UCSF), and Dr. Christopher Garcia (Stanford University). We are using viral vectors, universal targets, and novel cytokine biology to enhance CAR T activity in solid tumors. The Role:We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team and take advantage of our state-of-the-art oncolytic virus/viral gene delivery and cell therapy systems capabilities to discover novel cancer immunotherapy approaches. This position will report to the Head of Oncolytics and focus on the characterization of various oncolytic virus candidates in combination with our core technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Isolate, expand, purify and characterize viruses emerging from genetically engineered viruses or those derived from directed evolution
  • Evaluate novel replication competent virus candidates in high throughput in vitro assays utilizing cancer cell lines, organoids and primary cancer and normal tissue with respect to defining replication cycle time, and titer and VP:IVP ratio
  • Support team members in the engineering of novel oncolytic viruses and the assessment of their potential for cancer treatment
  • Communicate experimental findings in team meetings
  • Analyze, document, and report laboratory data in accordance with company SOPs
  • Present data and future experimental designs in meetings with scientific leadership
Required Experience & Skills:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Virology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or related field
  • Prior experience in Discovery Research is imperative
  • Experience in the generation, isolation/purification and evaluation of replication competent virus, viral vectors and/or virus engineering
  • Hands-on experience in molecular biology, including plasmid purification, cloning and qPCR
  • Ability to independently execute and interpret experimental assays
  • Collaborative attitude, ability to work in a team and dedicated work ethic
  • Strong organizational and planning skills and the desire to work in a flexible and fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Experience & Skills:
  • Prior experience with cell culture, culturing and isolation/purification of viruses
  • Previous experience with analyses of purified virus and or viral vectors
