Role Description

Are you a creative wordsmith with a passion for storytelling and a knack for crafting compelling content? Join our team as a Social Media Marketing Intern at our quazi stealth-mode startup based in the heart of NYC!

This is a part-time hybrid unpaid role for a Social Media Marketing Intern. As a Social Media Marketing Intern, you will be responsible for various day-to-day tasks such as communication, web content writing, content strategy, writing, and content management.

This position offers the opportunity to work in New York City co-working spaces (occasionally) and remotely (majority of the time).

Although this is an unpaid internship, we will provide you with the opportunity to recieve a personalized letter of recomnendation upon completion of one year of employment, 1:1 mentorship from our CEO, and we are happy to help you to use the internship to gain course credits from your university (please let us know during the interview the criteria required by your school).

Job Responsibilities

As a Social Media Marketing Intern, you'll play a crucial role in shaping our brand identity and engaging our target audience through impactful storytelling. Your responsibilities may include:

• Crafting engaging and persuasive content for various channels, including website copy, blog posts, social media posts, email newsletters, and marketing materials
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop content strategies that align with our brand voice and objectives
• Conducting research to understand our target audience, industry trends, and competitive landscape, and using insights to inform content creation
• Assisting in the development of content calendars and maintaining consistency across all communication channels
• Assist in the development and execution of marketing campaigns across various channels, including social media, email, and content marketing
• Create engaging and original content for social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, Lemon8) to drive engagement and follower growth
• Support the management and analysis of social media accounts, including scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and reporting on performance metrics
• Collaborate with the marketing team to brainstorm and develop innovative strategies to promote Mirror | Mirror and attract new users
• Conduct market research to identify trends, audience preferences, and competitive landscape
• Assist in organizing and promoting events, partnerships, and collaborations to enhance brand visibility
• Help maintain the company’s website and ensure content is up-to-date and aligned with the brand’s voice and vision
• Provide general administrative support to the marketing team and CEO/Founder as needed

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited college or university
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience or interest in web content writing and content strategy
• Strong writing skills
• Ability to manage and organize content effectively
• Proficiency in relevant software and tools for content management
• Expertise with major social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, Twitter (X), Pinterest, Lemon8, Linkedin, etc.

Requirements

• Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail and a strong command of the English language
• Creative thinking and the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, engaging content
• Passion for storytelling and a desire to learn and grow in the field of content creation and copywriting
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Familiarity with SEO best practices and content marketing principles is a plus

Relevant skills and qualifications that would be beneficial for the role include creative thinking, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and familiarity with digital marketing strategies. Furthermore, knowledge of SEO principles, social media management, and experience in the startup environment would be considered advantageous.

Duration & Schedule

This is an unpaid internship with flexible hours, requiring a commitment of 15-20 hours per week. The start date and duration are negotiable based on candidate availability.

We ask that interns commit to staying in the position for a minimum of 6-8 months, to help the company ramp up marketing efforts. Based on quarterly performance reviews, interns may have the opportunity to be promoted to part-time employees after one year at the company.
