Steamboat Springs School District is seeking highly qualified Speech Language Pathologists to join our Special Service Providers team for the 2024-2025 school year.
Ideal candidates will have experience providing SLP services to identified students at all PK-12 levels.
Candidates will need to have or be able to secure the Colorado Department of Education Special Services Providers license by August 2024.

SALARY INFORMATION:
Full time position, working a 185 day school year. Placement is based on a maximum of 8 years of experience, verified full time teaching (not substitute) experience and education. $58,531.00 - $78,058.00 (PhD). See salary schedule here per the current 2024-2025 special service provider salary schedule. This position is eligible for a $3000.00 stipend for fy25 only, based on FTE.

Position summary:

A Speech-Language Pathologist provides services for school-aged children with communication disorders that adversely affect children's educational performance. SLP may work at various school buildings as assigned.
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Participate as a member of the multidisciplinary team in the districts to which assigned. Participate in IEP meetings. Provide services for children with difficulties in the areas of language, voice, fluency, and articulation. Provide screenings for students with possible speech and language deficits impacting their access to the general curriculum. Assess children referred for Special Education evaluation. Complete written evaluations with specific goals and objectives for each student identified with speech/language needs. Provide direct and consultative services to students identified with speech/language needs. Program planning and implementation. Collaborate with teachers and paraprofessionals. Communicate with parents regarding their children's speech/language program. Supervision of Speech-Language Pathologist Assistants, Graduate students and Clinical Fellowships, as assigned Implement services based on the MTSS model. Provide education, assistance and monitoring of augmentative communication devices. Collect data on students' progress.
  • Able to work with students as various grade levels; may need to travel to oher schools is needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
    Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology Special Service Prividers Colorado Licensure through the Colorado Department of Education Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with administrators, teachers, students and families, and community members. Ability to conduct studies, prepare reports and make oral presentations. Computer knowledge is required in computer-related subjects, and computer literacy is preferred for other content areas. Ability to maintain individual student records and class files.A Ability to compile statistics for research and reports. Ability to discipline students in keeping with school and district procedures. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond professionally to questions from groups of parents, community members, commissions, colleagues and the Board of Education.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, discounts, commissions, proportions, percentage, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract concrete variables. Ability to analyze and use data to supervise the delivery of instruction and the school improvement process.

Technology Skills: Proficient use of technology which includes: basic operations and concepts, word processing, spreadsheets, internet usage, critical evaluation of information, data analysis, email, integration of technology.

Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in education. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to copy, coordinate, instruct, evaluate and negotiate. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to discipline students consistent with district procedures. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, or hear. The employee is continuously required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This position is generally in an office or classroom environment with computer Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
