Stem Construction is Hiring a Construction Project Manager Near El Paso, TX

Job Description

Stem Construction LLC, a high-quality General Contractor based in El Paso, TX, collaborates with Root Architects, a boutique architectural design firm specializing in Medical, Commercial, and Hospitality projects. Stem Construction is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to join our growing team and manage several ongoing and future design-build projects. The ideal candidate is both technically proficient and administratively oriented, with experience in commercial construction.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Project Management:

  • Independently manage construction projects from start to finish, overseeing all phases including pre-design, planning, bidding, budgeting, scheduling, mobilizing, ongoing construction, and closeout.
  • Monitor and maintain relationships with the superintendent, subcontractors, vendors, owners, and design teams, ensuring risk mitigation, safety management, efficient bidding and procurement, QC/QA, and project completion.
  • Complete projects on time and within budget.

Cost Estimation/Budgeting:

  • Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, leveraging past connections for new projects.
  • Participate in pre-construction and estimating activities, including bidding from design through completion.
  • Perform preliminary cost estimates, client bids, and plan takeoffs, working with Cost Estimators and subcontractors for bidding.
  • Manage financial aspects of project contracts, including cost forecasting and material purchases, and assist the CFO with basic bookkeeping.
  • Negotiate cost-effective subcontracts and material purchases, develop scopes, manage buyouts, and prepare necessary documentation.

Communications/Organization:

  • Represent the company in project meetings and assist in negotiations and strategy discussions.
  • Maintain efficient and organized communication through documentation of meeting minutes and project task logs.
  • Visit construction sites to monitor progress and maintain robust meeting notes.
  • Implement communication plans for meetings and reports to keep clients and project resources informed.

Scheduling:

  • Track project status and continually update schedules.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and material deliveries into a Master Project Schedule.
  • Monitor and control construction to ensure projects are built on schedule, within budget, and meet quality standards.

Quality Control:

  • Manage quality control processes, addressing concerns early through inspections.
  • Maintain relationships with owners, architects, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with contract terms and supervise documentation of significant project events.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and manage project close-out and warranty support.
  • Assess and address potential interferences or conflicts in plans.

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication, supervisory, and leadership skills.
  • Technically and administratively oriented.
  • Bilingual (preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of related construction management experience, including supervisory roles in commercial ground-up, renovation and Tenant Improvements.
  • Experience in Multi-Family and Restaurant projects is a plus.
  • Proficient in software programs such as ProCore, Google Docs, Microsoft Suite, CPM Scheduling Software (Primavera 6).
  • Experienced in compiling reports and tracking project action items.
  • Proficient computer skills for producing accurate reports and spreadsheets.
  • Experience with technologies such as digital plan rooms, BIM, or laser scanning (preferred).
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of industry practices, processes, and standards, including project management control systems.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate effectively.
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction Certification (preferred).
