SteppingStone Day School is Hiring a School Psychologist Near Bronx, NY

Established in 1983, Stepping Stone is a private, not for profit preschool program/ evaluation site for children with and without special needs. The agency's mission is to provide collaborative evaluation, education. therapy and family support services so that young children can develop to their full potential and join with their families and friends as members of the community.

Stepping Stone Day School's philosophy is based on the belief that all children are entitled to an education in a safe, nurturing and enriched environment with paramount emphasis on individualization and educational best practices. In addition, it is inherent in the school's philosophy that the incorporation of the needs of the family unit is essential to the young child's holistic growth.

We are seeking a Full-Time School Psychologist to work Monday to Friday

School Psychologist / Behavior Specialist

General

Provide clinical counseling services to students as mandated on the IEP; monitor progress and maintain records (i.e., session notes, quarterly reports, IEP updates, etc.)

Collaborate with all team members; attend interdisciplinary team meetings as needed

Conduct classroom and/or student observations to assess need for behavioral supports and complete FBA & BIP if appropriate

Monitor and track progress for children with crisis paraprofessionals and behavior plans

Collect data as needed. Coordinate with teachers and support staff to implement plan

Develop necessary interventions for teachers and support staff to provide positive outcomes for students

Implement school-wide PBIS and track progress

Implement 2nd-Step Social-Emotional curriculum

Provide crisis intervention as needed

Provide staff workshops on various topics related to child development (e.g., the importance of play, crisis de-escalation)

Work with crisis paraprofessionals and classroom staff on the implementation of BIP for a student

Coordinate care and resources with social workers

Parent collaboration

Provide consultation to parents regarding specific strategies or behavior management/support

Coordinate an Evening Meeting

Provide feedback to parents regarding psychological or neuropsychological evaluations

Support families during their transition to kindergarten

Discuss proposed program modifications

Provide information for community resources (e.g., psychological testing, counseling, etc.)

Coordinate implementation of strategies used in school with family

Teacher consultation

Consult with teachers and team members to assess the various factors / purpose of behaviors (i.e., environment, attention, developmental, etc.) that may be affecting a student's learning experience

Ongoing consultation with teachers regarding recommended strategies for behavior modification

Consultation regarding classroom management
