Position: Full Stack Engineer

Location: Itasca, IL 60143 Flexible working hours and hybrid work schedule

Are you capable of handling various tasks across the development lifecycle?

I am looking for a Full Stack Engineer with end-to-end development of web applications, from designing and implementing user interfaces to developing server-side logic, managing databases, deploying applications, and ensuring their performance, security and scalability.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in PHP, JavaScript, MySQL, Python, and Ubuntu 20.04 to handle the entire web development process, from frontend design to backend logic, database management, server administration, and deployment. In this position you will play a critical role in building and maintaining robust, scalable, and efficient web applications.

You will be handling various aspects of web development and server management.

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Frontend Development :

• Use HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create user interfaces and ensure a smooth user experience.
• Employ frontend frameworks/libraries like React, Angular, or Vue.js for building interactive and dynamic frontend components.

Backend Development :

• Utilize PHP for server-side scripting and building web applications, including handling HTTP requests, processing data, and interacting with databases.
• Use Python for backend development, potentially with Django or Flask frameworks, for tasks such as server-side logic, API development, and data processing.

Database Management :

• Design, implement, and maintain MySQL databases, including creating schemas, writing optimized SQL queries, and ensuring data integrity and security.

Server Administration :

• Configure and manage servers running Ubuntu 20.04, including setting up web servers (like Apache or Nginx), configuring security settings, and managing server resources.

Integration and APIs :

• Develop and integrate APIs using PHP, Python, or frameworks - Django Rest Framework to facilitate communication between frontend and backend systems, as well as with external services.

Version Control :

• Use Git for version control, allowing for collaboration with other developers, codebase management, and tracking changes across projects.

Deployment and DevOps :

• Deploy web applications to Ubuntu servers, possibly using deployment tools, Docker or traditional methods.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, building, and deploying applications.
• Configure server environments, optimize performance, and ensure scalability and reliability.

Testing and Debugging :

• Write unit tests and perform debugging to identify and fix issues in both frontend and backend code.
• Conduct thorough testing across different browsers, devices, and platforms to ensure compatibility and consistent behavior.

Maintenance and Optimization :

• Monitor application performance and server health, identifying and resolving bottlenecks and optimizing resource usage.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as updating dependencies, patching security vulnerabilities, and optimizing database performance.

• A knowledge of managing environments running on Ubuntu 20.04 Virtual Machines in Microsoft Azure is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in systems development or a similar role.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
