Sterling Infrastructure, Inc. is Hiring a Divisional Controller Near Dallas, TX

COMPANY OVERVIEW

The New Residential Plumbing Division (the “Division”) is headquartered just northeast of Dallas. It serves mid-range to high-end residential custom home builders in the Dallas area, providing all three major plumbing phases for new residential builds: Underground, above-ground, and fixtures/finishing.

Management believes that they can scale dramatically and is uniquely qualified to take on additional work being offered by other home builders in Dallas and throughout Texas. The Division is well positioned at the epicenters of US population growth and single-family home development in the Dallas-Ft. Worth region.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will oversee financial operations including AP/AR, job cost accounting, payroll, and cash flow management. The output expectation is as follows and will include but not limited to;

  • Timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including Inventory, Income Statement, and Balance Sheet preparation
  • Review and certify the accuracy of financial reports, including reconciliations, when submitting them to the Corporate Accounting Team
  • Operations analysis for the Business Unit and Corporate Management teams
  • Implement and enforce internal controls in accordance with SOX
  • Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations, including all bank accounts
  • Annual Budgeting; monthly forecasting and analysis
  • Recognition of material and labor cost transactions, including revenue, cost of sales, and inventory in the proper accounting period
  • Supervise Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Departments, including approvals, billings and payments
  • Process payroll timely and accurately while maintaining compliance with tax regulations
  • Provide timely response to requests for Internal and External audit support documents and explanations
  • Open communication with the Corporate Finance and Accounting Team
  • Coordinate IT as needed by the division
  • Perform other duties, responsibilities, or projects as assigned.

ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Adherence to deadlines established at Corporate and by Government Regulations; skilled time management
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong knowledge of Excel
  • Experience in Construction Accounting Software. Experience with Viewpoint and/or Quickbooks is preferred
  • A high degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality
  • Strong leadership with effective problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well with others as well as independently
  • Basic knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting considerations of public companies

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The office environment is a low to medium-risk area. Computers and phones are constantly in use.

While performing the essential functions of this job, the Employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The Employee is frequently required to sit. The Employee is occasionally required to kneel, crouch, or stoop. The Employee may lift, move, or push up to 50 pounds, and frequently lift, move, or push up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision. Extended periods of sitting at a desk while working on the computer or phone in a climate-controlled environment. Ascending and descending stairs may occasionally be required to gain access to offices.
