Sterling Search Partners is Hiring an Accounts Receivable Specialist Near Birmingham, AL

Sterling Search Partners is helping a Birmingham client with its search for an Accounts Receivable Specialist. The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for accurately processing and recording cash receipts and payments in the accounts receivable system. This role ensures that all transactions are recorded correctly, reconciled, and that customer accounts are updated accordingly. The specialist will collaborate with other finance team members and departments to maintain accurate financial records and support efficient cash flow management.

Key Responsibilities:

Cash Posting:

  • Accurately post cash receipts and payments to the appropriate customer accounts.
  • Reconcile daily cash receipts with bank deposits and payment records.
  • Process and record payments received via checks, ACH, credit card, and electronic transfers.

Account Reconciliation:

  • Perform regular reconciliations of accounts receivable sub-ledger to the general ledger.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies or variances in cash postings and account balances.
  • Prepare and review reconciliation reports for accuracy.

Customer Account Management:

  • Update and maintain customer account information, including payment terms and contact details.
  • Communicate with customers to resolve payment issues or discrepancies.
  • Generate and distribute customer statements as required.

Reporting:

  • Prepare and provide reports on cash receipts, account aging, and outstanding balances.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in cash posting and accounts receivable operations.
  • Implement best practices and assist in the development of policies and procedures.

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and legal regulations.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of all cash receipts and payment transactions.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounts receivable or cash posting roles.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
