Role Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Director of Plant Design to join our team. This role will be pivotal in the design and development of a novel industrial process at a commercial scale. As a Director of Plant Design, you will be responsible for creating comprehensive flowsheets, determining the scale of the technology, and ensuring seamless integration into existing infrastructure.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop a detailed process flowsheet for a novel copper production process.
  • Conduct thorough analysis to determine the optimal scale for the process, taking into consideration production capacity, available infrastructure at copper mine sites, and economic viability.
  • Determine appropriate equipment for the process including utilities, piping systems, and control systems.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges associated with the design and implementation of the new process, and develop strategies to mitigate them effectively.
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for the design, construction, and commissioning of the new plant, ensuring alignment with project budget and financial goals.
  • Ensure that the design and implementation of the new process comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and environmental guidelines.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all design activities, calculations, and decisions. Provide regular progress reports to project stakeholders and senior management.

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in plant design and process engineering, preferably in the mining industry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Experience with scale-up and commercialization of new technologies is a plus.
