Job DescriptionWe are seeking a bright, motivated, organized, and detail-oriented individual to join our Brooklyn office. We are currently only looking for individuals who can work full-time from 9 AM to 5 PM Monday - Friday.
Job Description:
The Payroll Specialist is primarily responsible for the accurate and timely processing of all payroll functions. The Payroll Specialist is the primary contact for all payroll inquiries and requires exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills. The successful candidate will handle frequent and urgent requests for information about payroll, tax, vacation and sick time, report generation, general ledger, and other general payroll policy matters.
Responsibilities:
  • Checking timesheets for accuracy
  • Entering data into databases and spreadsheets
  • Handling direct deposit requests and data
  • Processing paper checks for distribution
  • Acquiring all necessary signatures to distribute payroll
  • Processing wage garnishments
  • Making adjustments in pay for raises, bonuses, and commission
  • Processing out-of-cycle checks and employee separations
  • Serving as a point of contact for employee inquiries regarding paychecks, direct deposit, and/or general payroll questions
  • Maintaining current employee salary allocations per payroll
  • Troubleshooting problems with paychecks, tax deductions, vacation and sick accruals, and other payroll-related matters by researching and responding accordingly with related staff and managers
  • Running and preparing reports on a regular basis for payroll
  • Demonstrating the ability to process new hires, terminations, status changes, tax changes, deductions, calculating wage and overtime payments, double time, and other duties associated with standard payroll processing
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma
  • Strong PC skills
  • General math skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Strong work ethic and team player
  • Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
