What you will do

As a key member of Sterlite's Supply Chain Management Team you will manage all aspects of the logistics function to control, deliver, and distribute products and materials. Implement overall strategy, metrics, and processes to deploy an optimize STL's logistic network and operations. Oversight responsibilities include; inventory, distribution, and transportation operations that support the achievement of organizational goals and KPI's for product delivery and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees distribution operations of shipping, receiving, and raw material distribution. Maintains records within SAP, and audits regularly.
  • Promotes safe work environment through collaboration with leadership and HSE. Ensures that standard work is followed and coaches’ employees on best practices. Utilizes lock-out-tag-out process and ensures that all team members uphold best practices.
  • Maintains customer relations by ensuring seamless material flow process. Communicates with customers, third-party shipping companies to ensure that shipping and receiving functions are on schedule. Maintains external 3PLs relating to customer fulfillment including accurate and timely transactions to appropriate customers.
  • Creates, implements, and monitors daily workflow for distribution team. Delegates workload and sets expectations for team. Follows up with team leads to ensure that daily, weekly, monthly, and annual metrics are met and/or surpassed.
  • Mentors and coaches team leads on their performance, and develops their KSA’s, and soft skills. Partners with other departments (Continuous Improvement, Operations leadership, HR, HSE, etc.) to provide growth opportunities to team leads.
  • Reviews staffing needs of distribution team and makes hiring decisions. Upholds policies and provides team, and one-on-one feedback. Partners with HR for any corrective actions required.
  • Drives continuous improvement with the use of tier boards, and kaizen events. Reports on KPI metrics and creates and implements improvement plans.
  • Will fulfill pivotal role in demand planning, order management, and sales. Oversees inventory management and material control, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency. Reviews, updates, and maintains established inventory guidelines and procedures. Performs annual cycle counts and addresses variances.
  • Maintains, reviews, and updates (as needed) material/inventory management best practices and procedures including warehouse management (cycle count accuracy, transactions, and bar coding). Acts as superuser within the SAP system.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree. Supply chain, logistics or international trade major preferred
  • Three or more years of manufacturing experience
  • Experience with international logistics
  • Three or more years of experience with inbound/outbound logistics as well as warehouse management including, but not limited to: Cycle counting, Load planning, Packaging operations, Dock to Stock operations
  • 1 year experience using SAP enterprise software
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Strong understanding of the movement of materials and goods in a distribution setting, both from a functional / practical standpoint as well as a transactional standpoint
  • Ability to build and maintain positive and supportive relationships
  • Advanced Excel (Vlookup, pivot table, index match, basic charting / graphing, functions, statistical analysis)
