JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: School-Based Literacy Lead Teacher and Coach

POSITION DURATION / LOCATION: This is a two-year, grant-funded position that begins on August 1, 2024. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's Degree (Master's Degree Preferred)
• Exemplary performance as a classroom teacher in grades PK-5
• Minimum of 3 years of experience coaching adults, with demonstrated outcomes
• North Carolina Teaching Certification
• Knowledgeable of the science of reading
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

REPORTS TO: School Principal

JOB GOAL: To ensure high-quality literacy instruction in grades PK-5 that leads to all students meeting and exceeding reading benchmarks and developing a love for reading.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborate with district leadership, school leadership, Multi-Classroom Leaders, and external partners to:
• Design core literacy instruction and intervention rooted in the science of reading
• Support teachers to develop a classroom culture conducive to rigorous learning
• Engage in coaching cycles with PK-5 literacy teachers
• Support and oversee literacy assessments
• Facilitate a data-driven improvement process in Professional Learning Communities
• Model high-leverage instructional practices for PK-5 literacy teachers
• Co-teach with PK-5 literacy teachers
• Provide small group instruction in the area of literacy for 30% of the day
• Conduct school- and district-level professional development in research-based literacy instructional strategies
• Perform other such duties as assigned by supervisors

SALARY: NC Teacher's Salary Schedule with Local Supplement and $11,000 annual pay differential

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 11 months
