We are currently seeking a Full Time Phlebotomist for a medical office located in Spring, Texas.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Collect blood from pediatric patients by venipuncture and capillary techniques with specimen integrity and without undue injury to the patient.
- Reviews labels against lab orders ensuring Test ordered correctly.
- Proper handling of testing materials and packing for transport according to guidelines issued by the laboratory.
- Adhere to federal and state compliance regulations, company policies and procedures, accrediting agency policies and procedures, and applicable healthcare fraud, waste, and abuse laws.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Maintain satisfactory appearance of the blood collection area.
- Maintain inventory of supplies.
- Label, centrifuge and prepare specimens for transport.
- Monitor test results and follow the workflow established by the practice within compliance requirements.
- Collect throat and nasal, nasal mid-turbinate and nasopharyngeal samples.
- Be proficient in all necessary EMR Procedures.
- Adhere to universal precautions and isolation procedures.
- Enhances professional growth and development through participation in training opportunities and meetings.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience collecting blood on pediatric patients.
- High School diploma or better.
- Current BLS certification.
- Must be reliable and dependable.
- Experience with nasal, nasal mid-turbinate, nasopharyngeal, and oral swab specimen collections.
- Display compassionate, ethical, and professional demeanor.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be computer proficient, have attention to detail, accuracy, and excellent organizational skills.
- Have exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
