Sr. Content Manager - Consumer Marketplace 

As our Senior Content Manager, you'll be the creative force behind our consumer brand's digital story. You'll create, optimize and manage content that drives our organization's communication, brand and digital presence. This role requires you to develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy across SEO, social media, and email, ensuring our message resonates with our audience and drives results. Your ability to craft compelling narratives, analyze performance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams will be essential in establishing our brands as industry leaders (sparefoot.com, storage.com, selfstorage.com). 

What you will do: 

Content Management & Strategy: 

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy aligned with business objectives. Identify content opportunities, create content calendars, and oversee content production from ideation to publication.
  • Lead the creation of high-quality, engaging content for various platforms, including blog posts, articles, social media posts, and email campaigns. Ensure content aligns with brand voice and messaging.
  • Manage freelance writers and design resources and own their workload and output.
  • Create content to be used at every stage of the funnel with a focus on being helpful and positioning us as the expert in the industry.
  • Follow SEO best practices to optimize new and existing content for search. Interpret keyword research to develop new and optimize existing content.
  • Develop and implement social media strategies to increase brand awareness, drive engagement, and grow followers across multiple platforms.
  • Partner with team members to contribute content to our lifecycle email marketing.

Performance Management: 

  • Manage and mentor a content manager, fostering their growth and development while ensuring alignment with overall content goals.
  • Track and analyze content performance metrics to measure ROI and identify opportunities for improvement. Provide regular reports on content performance and insights to stakeholders. 
  • Report on key performance metrics (KPIs) comparing them to our goals and benchmarking data across all channels. 
  • Assist with building and maintaining reporting in GA4. 
  • Create and maintain process documentation. 

Industry Research and Innovation: 

  • Stay abreast of current best practices in the industry and review competitor websites to compare their activities with those of our properties.
  • Contribute to industry research, ad-hoc analyses, and strategic initiatives. 

What you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field. 
  • 4 years of experience in content management, with a strong focus on SEO, social media, and/or email marketing. 
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills. 
  • Ability to conceive fresh and appealing ideas for new content that establishes or supports the company's brand identity and positioning as an expert. 
  • Expertise with using SEO best practices to write creative copy that includes effective keyword placement. 
  • Experience with social media engagement strategies and best practices as well as managing social media platforms and analyzing social media analytics.
  • Desire to work cross functionally and collaborate within the growth marketing team and larger product team including developers/engineers and various levels of leadership. 
  • Data-driven decision-making abilities. 
  • Enthusiasm for working within a project management tool (Asana).
  • Knowledge of WordPress is a plus. 
  • Prior experience in consumer marketplaces is a plus.
