My clients are seeking a seasoned manager to join our Commercial Solutions Department. This role involves leading our Designer/Estimator teams and collaborating closely with our Commercial Sales, Project Management, and Operations teams.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the solar energy industry and a comprehensive understanding of national electric codes, building codes, and industry standards. Prior managerial experience is preferred. This position reports to the VP of Design and Engineering and requires strong collaboration with various organizational leaders.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the workflow of design tasks to align with operational needs.
  • Manage estimating tasks according to sales requirements.
  • Lead and support employees in the design and estimating teams.
  • Administer tools and databases used for design and estimating work.
  • Develop and implement procedures and processes for the commercial solutions team.
  • Conduct energy analyses for commercial and industrial energy users to evaluate the economic impacts of PV and BESS projects.
  • Create estimates and designs for projects.
  • Research products and write scopes for bidding by external parties, including engineers, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with external parties, such as engineers, jurisdictions, and subcontractors.

Tasks:

  • Understand PV systems and related components.
  • Knowledge of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
  • Familiarity with the National Electric Code (NEC), IEEE standards, and utility requirements for PV.
  • Comprehend Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements for PV.
  • Design PV systems considering wind and snow load.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Proven managerial experience.
  • Proficiency in using spreadsheets, CRM, ERP, and the ability to learn new software programs.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the solar industry, particularly in the design and installation of electrical and mechanical photovoltaic systems.
  • Experience in the electrical construction industry.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 5% of the time and work in commercial field conditions.
