STRADA Search Group is Hiring a Supervisor 2nd shift Near Grand Rapids, MI

JobSummary :

Working leader that oversees second shiftincluding directing workload of second shift staff acting as aliaison to management maintaining a safe productive andprofessional work environment and performing various fabricationshop duties as needed.

Hours : 2 : 30PM 1 : 30 AM (MTh)

Essential Duties andResponsibilities :

These include thefollowing and other duties may beassigned.

  • Direct coordinate andassign daily tasks and work assignments for second shiftstaff.
  • Keep supervisor andmanagement informed of second shift’s progress events andneeds.
  • Provide input onemployee performance tosupervisor.
  • Answer the phoneafter hours and assist employees customers and others asappropriate referring serious and / or involved questions and issuesto management.
  • Maintain organizationcleanliness appearance and safety of the building inside and outduring secondshift.
  • Train newstaff.
  • Assist with OSHAcompliance.
  • Read mechanicaldrawings to determine machine adjustments and materialrequirements.
  • Operate fabricationshop machinery and equipment to make product according to thecustomerexpectations.
  • Set stops or guidesto specified length as indicated by scale rule ortemplate.
  • Observe machineoperation to detect workpiece defects or machinemalfunction.
  • Measure workpiecedimensions to determine accuracy of machineoperation.
  • Remove burrs sharpedges rust or scale fromworkpiece.
  • Threadpipe.
  • Perform minor machinemaintenance.
  • Regular andpredictableattendance.
  • Worksafely.

SupervisoryResponsibilities :

Acting as the liaison betweenmanagement and second shift staff the Shift Leadperson isresponsible for overseeing second shift and expected to do thefollowing :

  • Direct coordinate andassign daily tasks and workassignments.
  • Train newemployees.
  • Keep managementinformed of overall shift developments and staff performance (i.e.staffing or resources needed progress / delays safety issues teamconcerns and suggestionsetc.).
  • Informal problemsolving.
  • Maintain a safeproductive and professional work environment for secondshift.

The Second ShiftLeadperson may provide input to management but does not have fullauthority or exercise full decisionmaking authority in thefollowing areas.

  • Hiring
  • Disciplinary actionup to and includingtermination
  • Complaint / grievanceresolution
  • Formal writtenperformanceevaluation
  • Reclassificationpromotion / demotionpay

Knowledge Skills andAbilities :

  • Working knowledge ofCompany products andspecifications.
  • Working knowledge ofEtna policies andprocedures.
  • Working knowledge ofapplicable OSHA regulations applicable to theshop.
  • Ability to accuratelyread and interpret technical drawings andspecifications.
  • Ability and skill tooperate fabrication shopmachinery.
  • Extreme accuracy whenmeasuring.
  • Effectivecommunication leadership organization stress management andinterpersonalskills.
  • Ability toeffectively manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adaptto changing situations in a fastpacedenvironment.
  • Set positive exampleas a leader of theshift.
  • Computerliterate.
  • Sound judgment onwhat should be referred to and handled bymanagement.
  • Basic addingsubtracting multiplication and division skills either with orwithout acalculator.
  • Ability to operatestandard officeequipment.

Education and / orExperience :

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent;or
  • One to two years ofrelated experience and training;or
  • Equivalentcombination of experience andeducation.

Certifications and / orLicenses :

Ability to pass operator exam anddrive powered industrialequipment.
