Job Summary
SMSI is hiring a Principal Plumbing Designer in Greenville, South Carolina. The purpose of this position is to plan, organize, and coordinate process/mechanical engineering and multi-disciplined team/design projects while engaged in the planning, design, and construction phases of engineering projects through project startup. This position requires travel, with mobility of greater than 25% to client sites in Aiken, SC (Savannah River Site), and Houston, Texas.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and coordinate process/mechanical engineering and multi-disciplined team/design projects while engaged in the planning, design, and construction phases of engineering projects through project startup.
- Prepare and review calculations and specifications relating to P&ID development.
- Demonstrate design experience in areas such as, but not limited to mechanical systems, water and waste systems, and equipment design.
- Generate and review the accuracy of design/evaluation calculations, and specifications.
- Familiarity with computer aided drafting applications is required.
- Conduct construction document reviews as required.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering, with a minimum of 5 or more years of experience (nuclear preferred) in design, estimating, specification preparation, construction document preparation, and related phases of engineering.
- Must have a working knowledge of Federal (including Department of Energy).
- Professional Engineering License preferred, but not required.
- The candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Q clearance is required.
- This position requires travel, with mobility of greater than 25% to client sites in South Carolina (Savannah River Site). Occasionally, trips to client office in Houston may also be required.
