SRI is seeking committed and passionate professionals to provide critical ECRC Family Readiness Coordination Services to the Navy’s Fleet and Family Support Programs (FFSPs) designed to maximize the well-being of active duty, retirees, civilians (OCONUS) and their families.

Overall Contract Overview

Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) requires comprehensive services, programs, personnel and administrative support for Fleet and Family Support Programs (FFSPs) located throughout CONUS and OCONUS. The overall goal is to implement and evaluate established services and programs designed to maximize the well-being of active duty, retirees, civilians (OCONUS) and their families. We are required to develop concepts, structures, processes, procedures, and practices for meeting these objectives. The purpose of this contract is twofold: one, to provide global staffing to augment existing FFSP and personnel; and two, to provide FFSP with webinar hosting, production and facilitation services through a learning management system.

The primary mission of each FFSP is to assist commands in achieving operational readiness, superior performance, member retention, and a reasonable quality of life for military personnel and their families. Commands and FFSPs share the common goals of keeping individuals and families resilient and strong, preventing individual and family dysfunction, facilitating personal and family self-sufficiency, and creating overall command and community well-being.

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child Counselor to join our team, providing specialized services to children exposed to family violence or victims of child abuse. As a Tier III qualified clinical practitioner, the Child Counselor will leverage their expertise to offer crisis intervention, non-medical counseling, and family advocacy services to at-risk children and families. With a focus on crisis response, short-term counseling, and case management, this role plays a critical part in supporting the emotional well-being and safety of children in need.

Tasks and Responsibilities

The Child Counselor will provide immediate intervention, risk assessment, and psychological first aid to children in crisis, following best practices in the mental health community. They will manage specialized counseling services, offering assessment and treatment for children impacted by domestic violence and abuse. This role involves close collaboration with family advocates, medical personnel, and other professionals to ensure effective case management and intervention services. The Child Counselor will also maintain comprehensive records of all services delivered and ensure compliance with Navy and federal requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide immediate intervention and psychological first aid services to children in crisis situations.
  • Conduct assessments and short-term, solution-focused counseling services for children and families.
  • Manage case files and ensure accurate documentation in the FFSMIS system.
  • Facilitate psychological first aid for small-scale and large-scale incidents, collaborating with medical and spiritual personnel as needed.
  • Conduct risk assessments for victims and perpetrators of child abuse and domestic violence.
  • Coordinate intervention services and case management for children and families involved in the Family Advocacy Program (FAP).
  • Participate in emergency response exercises and public awareness campaigns, such as Ready Navy.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Ensure staff delivering crisis response, counseling, and FAP services are accurately documenting all services provided in the FFSMIS system.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to provide non-medical counseling for conditions such as adjustment disorders.
  • Expertise in conducting risk assessments and developing treatment plans for child abuse and domestic violence cases.
  • Strong collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams, including medical, spiritual, and advocacy professionals.
  • Proficiency in crisis management and emergency preparedness.

  • High level of professionalism and ethical judgment in handling sensitive cases.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly when working with children and families in crisis.
  • Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for case management and documentation.
  • Knowledge of Navy, federal, state, and local reporting requirements for child abuse and domestic violence.

Required Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field.
  • Two years (2000 hours) of post-licensure clinical experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with children exposed to family violence or victims of child abuse.
  • Experience with crisis intervention and non-medical counseling.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in case management and working within the Family Advocacy Program (FAP).
