STV is Hiring a Water Discipline Lead for Stormwater Services Near New York, NY

STV has an immediate need in our NYC office who will serve as our East Region One Water Discipline Lead for Stormwater Services within our National Water Practice.

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead the growth and technical delivery of stormwater and water resources projects in the region.
  • Recruit and build a team of stormwater and water resources engineers to deliver work for city and county governments, water and sewer agencies, and water management districts.
  • Coordinate permitting through various water management districts and permitting agencies.
  • Participate in project development meetings with client teams.
  • Provide professional design services including watershed assessments, storm drains, culverts, storm water management, green stormwater, ESD/LID facilities, and erosion and sediment control.
  • Have strong expertise in various hydraulic modeling applications.
  • Coordinate design development and assist with technical direction of junior staff.
  • Achieve quality deliverables within the established schedule and budget.
  • Assist with the development of specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports.
  • Establishing working relationships and interfacing with client technical staff and project managers.
  • Mentoring supporting water resource design staff.

**The ideal candidate is an individual who is a self-starter, an excellent communicator, and possesses a solid understanding of water resources and civil engineering principles.

The candidate will be designing independently and mentoring junior staff members for successful project outcome. This is an excellent opportunity for a creative, self-motivated, and detail-oriented professional who enjoys being part of a strong team environment! Additionally, will also have opportunities to assist our transportation design efforts, providing geometric design for road and bridge projects (these skills are not required and can be learned on numerous projects).

Responsibilities include:

  • Using hydrologic and hydraulic software such as Geopak Drainage, StormCAD, and HEC-RAS modeling, Open Roads Drainage.
  • Using CADD and mapping software including MicroStation, AutoCAD, and ESRI ArcGIS.
  • Submitting NPDES permit requirements of municipalities and other government entities.
  • Strong inter-personal skills for client and other engineering discipline interaction.
  • Experience with NYDEP and other clients in the region.
  • Candidate should possess knowledge and experience of the federal programs for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and other programs involving stormwater management and water resources management.

Required Skills:

  • The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a Master's degree in Engineering is a plus (Civil, Biological, Agricultural, or another related discipline)
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience of Water Resources and Storm Water Design Engineering - including the planning design, and construction management oversight watershed improvement programs in separate or combined sewer systems, flood protection, storm drains, culverts, storm water management, BMPs, erosion and sediment control, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and Floodplain studies, and environmental permitting.
  • New York PE license is required; with the ability to obtain reciprocity in other states within six months. Prior experience in the southeast and Texas are preferred.

Compensation Range:

$164,211.00 - $218,949.00
