Youth Development Specialist
Reports to: Program Director
Salary range: Negotiable based on experience. A sign-on bonus will be determined by education and experience, paid after 90 days of successful employment. There is a possibility of on-site housing for non-local applicants.
HOURS:
Afterschool/Evening (Some Weekends-Rotating)
Primary Function: To create & maintain a safe and healthy environment that provides all Youth
Participants with a fun place to learn and grow by participating in positive activities.
Tasks: Assist the Program Director in planning, marketing, implementation, and evaluation of programs
in the areas of:
1. Education/Technology: Implementation and evaluation of all educational/technology programs offered by the Youth Center. Ensure that all youth participants are doing daily educational activities.
2. Sport/Fitness: Assists in planning and implementing programs and daily activities that ensure the safety and well-being of all youth participants to encourage healthy lifestyles, team efforts and good sportsmanship.
3. Character/Leadership: Assists in encouraging youth participants to develop leadership by planning and carrying out community service projects to influence positive community center outcomes. Develop clubs that promote mentoring programs for the younger members of the Youth Center and programs that benefit the elderly.
4. Cultural Programs/Activities: Assists in development of a strong Lakota Cultural Program that is designed to promote Lakota values.
5. The Arts: Assists in developing art programs that encourage artistic expression through drawing, painting, music, dance, photography, cultural arts, and performing arts to encourage youth participants to learn and appreciate all forms of art.
A sign-on bonus is available after 90 days of successful employment and will be determined through a job performance and attendance review.
All employees must pass a pre-employment background check and a drug/alcohol test. Applicants must be 18 years old, have a valid State Driver's License.
Selected employees are expected to be role models for the youth we serve and their families.
