Key Responsibilities:
- General Responsibilities:
- Preparing and consolidating financial statements.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for construction projects.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data and adherence to accounting standards and regulations.
- Establish and maintain internal controls.
- Manage all aspects of the general ledger.
- Coordinate or assist with the budget process.
- Research accounting issues for compliance with accepted accounting principles.
- Serve as a liaison to external auditors.
- Supervise accounts receivable, accounts payable and general accounting departments.
- Project Cost Accounting:
- Track and analyze projects costs, including labor, materials, subcontractors' expenses, and overhead costs.
- Monitor project budgets and provide regular updates on project financial performance to project managers and senior management.
- Job Costing and Billing:
- Manage job costing processes to accurately allocate costs to specific construction projects.
- Review and approve project invoices and billing documentation for accuracy and compliance with contract terms.
- Month End and Year End Close:
- Adhere to a structured monthly closed procedure and demonstrate an ability to adhere to timelines.
- Understanding of due diligence in accounting and operational procedures.
- Compliance and Audits:
- Ensure compliance with construction accounting principle, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Assist in internal and external audits of construction projects, providing documentation and support.
- Payroll:
- Ensure proper reconciliation of payroll utilizing GL information and external payroll providers.
- Ensure proper compliance and timeliness with construction industry standards (i.e. Prevailing wage, ROCIP reporting).
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field preferred.
- 4 years experience.
- Proficient in Excel or demonstrates a strong desire to learn.
- Proficient in ERP experience, SAP or NetSuite/Oracle, Sage, MS Dynamic, or QuickBooks.
- Construction experience a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
