Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Dining Room Supervisor, the Server performs / is responsible for friendly and courteous service to all Summer Grove Dining Room guests. Special attention is given to safe food practices to ensure a fully satisfactory dining experience.

Duties/Responsibilities & Requirements:

• Provide friendly, professional, and timely service to guests
• Greet and seat customers, take food orders, and take care of any special needs of the customer.
• Coordinate with the staff to deliver food and clear and re-set tables.
• Be proactive and follow directives in setting tables for ala carte dining, showers, weddings and special events.
• Arrive to scheduled work location at scheduled time well-groomed and neatly dressed in accordance with Company policy.
• Anticipate your guest’s needs by frequently scanning the room. Be alert of guest signals (raising a hand, looking directly at you, etc.), and acknowledge the guest so they know you will be right with them.
• Work as a team with all Summer Grove staff in order to maintain an effective atmosphere and an efficient food and beverage service.
• Ensures that the dining room tables and side-boards are stocked and all equipment and work areas are cleaned to Company standards at all times.
• Protect the assets of Summer Grove. This includes vigilance in the handling of monies, food and/or Company inventory.
• Charge/ring for EVERY food and beverage sale including all food and beverage taken out of the kitchen.
• Maintain confidentiality in the handling of all guests’ personal and financial data, including, but not limited to their name, address, credit card information and expenditure totals.
• Ability to perform and be flexible in varying work assignments
• Ability to remain poised and positive in a fast paced work environment
• Keep busy during slow times by cleaning, restocking, and preparing for future rush or event. Cleaning and disinfecting tables, chairs and counters regularly and in between customers. Follow all Dept of Health cleaning guidelines.
• Knowledge, understanding and the ability to explain the basic food and beverage items provided on the menu. In addition, the knowledge and understanding and the ability to communicate in specific terms potential food allergens. i.e. gluten, fish, etc.
• Exhibit safe food practices at ALL times
• Remains vigilant to assure the safety of all guests and customers. Immediately reports to management any incidents or injuries.

Knowledge / Skills

• Basic knowledge of operation of a Point of Sale system
• BASSAT training certification
• Valid Food Handlers License
• Must adhere to all State and Federal laws and regulations report improper or illegal conduct to Supervisor or Management; determine and enforce legal drinking age
• Effective communicator, well organized with the ability to multi-task

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

• Perform all serving duties without endangering self, other employees, or guests.
• Must be able to be on your feet for prolonged periods of time, bend, walk, have a degree of manual dexterity, and willing to work in a small area.
• Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs. (trays of plated food and beverages)
• Frequent washing of hands
• Available to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
