Summary/PurposeThe GED Manager oversees the GED department, including the supervision of teachers, maintaining instructional integrity, managing curriculum supplies, and providing academic support for Summit Academy OIC students and prospective students. This support includes GED and Adult Diploma assistance, entrance exam tutoring, test-taking strategies, study skills, and subject-specific support. Additionally, this position oversees Summit Prep operations and staff, supporting its mission to provide test preparation for TABE (Test for Adult Basic Education) and Accuplacer, as well as ongoing tutoring for enrolled vocational students across all programs. The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with strong execution skills across various educational styles. Supervise and support GED instructors and volunteers, ensuring high-quality instructional delivery and professional development.
Provide leadership in the development and continuous improvement of the GED curriculum, ensuring alignment with accreditation standards.
Conduct performance evaluations for instructional staff, providing feedback and development plans.
Manage the recruitment, hiring, and training of new GED instructors and volunteers.
Ensure compliance with all educational policies and procedures.
Program Development
Expand and develop the GED program to meet the diverse needs of students.
Oversee the creation and maintenance of instructional materials and supplies.
Develop and implement innovative strategies to enhance student engagement and success.
Lead initiatives to increase evening and weekend class offerings.
Serve as a substitute instructor when necessary.
Budget And Reporting
Develop and manage the annual budget for the GED program.
Monitor and report on program resources, including staffing, materials, equipment, and student performance.
Ensure the accuracy of program data within the SID system and submit annual reporting data to the consortium.
Instruction And Evaluation
Directly instruct GED classes or arrange for substitute instructors as needed.
Develop and manage comprehensive course evaluations for all GED training courses.
Participate in student disposition conferences, unit staff meetings, and other relevant meetings.
Collaboration And Communication
Collaborate regularly with senior leadership to inform educational decisions and leverage resources.
Build and maintain relationships with external community partners, such as nonprofit organizations, public schools, and libraries.
Communicate effectively with students, staff, and community partners to support learning and address concerns.
Serve as the liaison to the Minneapolis Consortium, ensuring compliance and reporting.
Other Duties
Manage the Pearson Vue testing lab operations and compliance.
Serve as an administrator for Canvas LMS and other educational tools.
Participate in open houses, donor events, and other promotional activities.
Contribute to policy committees, campus safety initiatives, and graduation planning.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the success of the GED program.
Serves as final check for Adult Diplomas or portfolios

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITYThis position will supervise all GED coordinators and instructors and directly or indirectly manage all volunteers. May supervise Work Study Students. WORK ENVIRONMENTThis job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
Must be able to hear and speak well enough to communicate with students, faculty and staff face-to-face and via the telephone.
Ability to speak to large public audiences.
POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORKThis is a full-time, exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some evenings and weekends may be required to meet the expectations of the position. TRAVELOccasional local travel is required. Required Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology or a related field or equivalent experience.
3-5 years of management or supervisory experience in an education setting, preferably a vocational training school or program.
Preferred Education & Experience
Master’s degree in psychology, education or a related field.
3 years of management or supervisory experience in an education setting, preferably a vocational training school or program
