Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our dental practice in Ankeny, Iowa, as a Dental Assistant. This role plays a crucial part in supporting our dental team and ensuring efficient patient care. Responsibilities include providing chairside assistance to dentists, sterilizing instruments, preparing treatment rooms, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. The Dental Assistant will also be responsible for taking and developing dental X-rays, recording patient information, and educating patients on oral hygiene practices.

While a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of a dental assistant program are preferred, they are not required. We are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, and a genuine interest in the dental field. Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach to patient care are paramount. Responsibilities:

  • Provide chairside assistance to dentists during various dental procedures.
  • Prepare treatment rooms by ensuring cleanliness and proper setup.
  • Sterilize and maintain dental instruments in accordance with infection control protocols.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays as prescribed by dentists.
  • Record patient information and maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
  • Assist in managing the flow of patients and ensuring a positive patient experience.
  • Perform administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments and managing patient records.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a dental assistant program is preferred but NOT REQUIRED!
  • X-ray certification in accordance with state regulations.
  • Previous experience in a dental setting is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and terminology.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.
  • Basic computer skills for managing patient records and scheduling.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour
