Summit Healthcare is Hiring an OB Patient Care Tech - PRN Near Show Low, AZ

General Position Summary:
Responsible for providing safe, emotionally supportive, and individualized care for patients under the direction of nursing staff and medical providers.
Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities:
•Provides basic patient care, including vital signs, blood glucose on adults, hygiene (bathing and oral care), positioning, toileting, linen changes, ambulation, range of motion, nutritional and hydration support, collecting lab specimens.
•Assists with post-moretm care
•Ensures compliance with HIPAA policies and procedures.
•Promotes a safe patient environment: clutter-free, bed alarms, armband checks, etc.
•Assists with the setup for medical procedures
•Stocks supplies per departmental needs.
•Responsible to perform Direct Observer and Sitter duties as needed
•Assists the Health Unit Coordinator with duties as needed.
•Assists the nurse in admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
•Orient patients and families to patient rooms, patient activities, and hospital policies.
•Documents patient care provided and I&O
•Communicates information to Nursing and medical staff.
•Participates in educational offerings staff meetings, and other departmental/association wide meetings.
•Displays professional behaviors that reflect the SHINE Behavior Standards.
•Promotes patient safety standards
•Completes efficient and purposeful patient rounding to promote patient safety and the patient experience
•Promotes safe sleep practices
•All other duties as assigned
Competencies:
•Provides basic patient care, including vital signs, blood glucose, hygiene (bathing and oral care), positioning, toileting, linen changes, ambulation, range of motion, nutritional and hydration support, and collecting lab specimens.
•Promotes a safe patient environment: clutter-free, bed alarms, armband checks, etc.

•Ensures compliance with HIPAA policies and procedures.
•Assists the nurse in admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
•Orient patients and families to patient rooms, patient activities, and hospital policies.
•Communicates information to Nursing and medical staff.
•Transport patient without a monitor.
•Documents patient care provided and I&O.
•Admits, transfers, and discharges patients in the information technology systems. Quick admits to AllScripts and assignments in PeriWatch according to EMTALA laws
•Displays proper etiquette when answering the telephone
•Completes training for infant security system including management of the infant security system (admitting, transferring, discharging, alarms, band adjusts, etc)
•Maintains patient census (accurate and up to date). Completes midnight census tasks as applicable
•Assists with post-mortem care
•Completes efficient and purposeful patient rounding to promote patient safety and increase the patient experience.
•Maintains charts for shift and prepares charts for next day with scheduled procedures
•Participates in educational offerings staff meetings, and other departmental/association wide meetings.
•Promotes patient safety standards and completes patient safety reporting events on own (including IT and Maintenance tickets)
•Proficient in the HUC role (3 and 4 floors)

•Are normally made within the hospital.
•Are usually made with own department, staff, and supervisor.

•Are usually with patients, with some physician contact.
Specific Job Skills & Mental Activities:
This position requires the knowledge, skills, and clinical experience to perform in a diversified acute care setting.
This position requires knowledge of hospital equipment and programs, including all Hospital Information Systems and department specific equipment.
This position requires basic computer, communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Education and/or Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • CPR Certification required upon hire or within 30 days of hire
  • Secure Training required within 12 months of hire
  • Direct Observer training required within 12 months of hire
  • CNA, LNA, PCT, or EMT-B - preferred (Required for PCT II)
  • 6 months of experience in a clinical setting preferred
Physical Demands & Job Conditions:
Exert up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. The worker is subject to contact with chemicals, contact with infectious fluids, heavy lifting, constant standing, and encounters with upset/disturbed individuals.
Physical motions include finger dexterity, standing, walking, stooping, crawling, talking, reaching, feeling, sitting, bending, kneeling, climbing, grasping, listening/hearing, handling, and repetitive motions of the hands, wrists, and feet.
This is considered a safety-sensitive position.
OSHA Exposure Category:
Involves exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
