Overview
Green America Recycling (GAR) Alternative Fuels and Raw Materials Quality Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and oversight of Alternative Fuels & Raw Materials program across Green America Recycling and Summit Materials Cement Division locations. Leads development, execution and management of AFR sampling, testing, pre-qualification, approval and safe utilization of AFR within cement manufacturing facilities to leverage replacement of traditional fuels, reduction of CO2 emissions and maximization of product quality. This position supports a good standing in the community, sustainable operations, and adheres to and upholds all company policies, safety standards and federal / state regulations.
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the testing, review, prequalification and approval process for all Alternative Fuels & Raw Materials. Fuel types can and may include various alternative fuel types: Biomass, Residue Derived Fuel from municipal solid waste or industrial waste, Construction & Demolition residues, Tire Derived Fuel, Liquid Waste Fuels, and others
  • Develop testing program including review and approval of hazardous and non-hazardous alternative fuel for utilization in cement manufacturing facilities.
  • Develop testing program including review and approval of alternative raw materials for utilization in cement manufacturing facilities.
  • Centralizes, communicates and maintains good practices of sampling, testing, review, approval and utilization of Alternative Fuels and Raw Materials.
  • Supports management to ensure alternative fuel facilities operate in safety, environmental, and legal compliance.
  • Manage, suggest and implements controls, reports and KPIs to ensure the expected performance of the Alternative Fuel substitution
  • Manage and integrate new technology of databases and reports for any information necessary testing, reporting and tracking of Alternative Fuels and Raw Materials.
  • Support new projects & business cases enabling the additional utilization of Alternative Fuels
  • Work with operational management teams to address concerns such as waste, production inefficiencies, etc.
  • Lead in the development, training, and execution of a best-in-class technical and operational program for site personnel.
  • Other duties may be required and will be assigned as necessary.
Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; or 5 years demonstrated experience with chemical testing within a laboratory environment.
  • Must have a high level of integrity and commitment to comply with all applicable federal / state / industry compliance, record keeping, regulations and standards.
  • Must have experience with non-hazardous alternative fuels and raw materials; experience with hazardous fuels strongly preferred
  • Must be a self-starter with strong strategic thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to function in a fast-paced and evolving business.
  • Must have previous experience with environmental compliance.
  • Must have previous experience in testing fuels and raw materials with experience guiding teams and improving processes. Six Sigma methodologies experience a plus.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong Interpersonal capabilities with ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, while building rapport with team members across functions/operating units and influencing at all levels of the organization
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites with accurate data entry skills.
  • Due to the nature of this position, it is essential that the teammate be available to report to the designated work site / office and be ready to begin work when scheduled,
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening which may include a physical, background check, and drug screen.

Frequent exposure to walking on rocky, irregular surfaces that may be muddy and in reduced lighting conditions, moving mechanical parts, electrical equipment, high and/or confined spaces, fumes, airborne particles, outside weather conditions and explosives. Occasionally be able to lift and/or move up to fifty (50) lbs. independently and tolerate moderate noise levels.
